Ubisoft plans to release a Champions figure drop in the future, though specific information is yet to come.
Ubisoft’s new battle game called Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles quickly ran out of its free Warlords digital collectibles. In just a few hours after its public release, the game made over $2 million from these sales, as reported by CryptoSlam.
Before the public sale, a limited number of these Warlords were sold to a few fans. However, when the free sale opened to everyone at 4 p.m. ET on Monday, all 9,999 of these pixel art-style Warlords were snapped up in under 20 minutes.
Now, these digital collectibles are being resold on platforms like OpenSea for about $600 each, or 0.27 ETH. Interestingly, only a small fraction, or 7%, of the total Warlords are currently up for sale.
While the Warlords NFTs were free to mint, buyers still had to pay Ethereum transaction fees, which can vary greatly from low to high amounts depending on network demand.
For future crypto integrations in Champions Tactics, the game will utilize the Oasys blockchain, ensuring players won’t face these gas fees.
For gamers who couldn’t get the Warlords NFTs and don’t want to spend a significant amount in Ethereum to join, there’s still hope. Ubisoft plans to release a free Champions figure drop in the future, though specific information is yet to come.
